Campbell's Chunky Healthy Request Sirloin Burger Soup

Campbell's Chunky Healthy Request Sirloin Burger SoupWhen the rain is s falling down and I'm at home by myself, a nice warm bowl of soup makes the perfect healthy, light dinner. Normally I just heat up a canned soup, and while I'm at it, I usually toss in some extra vegetables to bulk it up and add some flavor and freshness. Still, when I'm going to work and want soup, I try to pick something that I don't really need to mess with just to enjoy. Campbell's Chunky Healthy Request Sirloin Burger Soup caught my eye for being one that sounded hearty enough all on its own for a quick dump-and-heat meal.

When I poured the soup into a bowl, a medley of meat, carrots, potatoes, and peas in a thick beef broth came out. I was surprised to see that they really meant burger - the meat is in the form of cute little 1-inch patties! Unfortunately, the entire thing together looked remarkable like wet dog food - okay, I've seen some decent-looking dog food, but still, it was a bit put-off. I heated the soup for about 3 minutes, giving it a stir halfway through cooking. The broth thinned significantly, making this soup look more like human food. I started eating, and the first thing I noticed was the vegetables. There's quite a few - this really is a chunky soup - though they're a bit on the mushy side. The beef is tender enough to cut in half with a spoon, and considering the size of the patties, you'll probably need to. The patties had a nice beefy flavor, unlike the broth, which tasted mildly of tomatoes, but not much else.

Each can of Campbell's Chunky Healthy Request Sirloin Burger Soup is 2 servings, which provides 260 calories, 4 grams of total fat, 40% of the daily value for sodium, 6 grams of fiber and 20 grams of protein.

I did find this soup to be pretty filling, though for the amount of sodium, I'd expect it to be saltier. I liked, but did not love this soup. While it is good enough to stand on its own without doctoring, there are other choices out there that are more worth the $2.19 price tag.
