Lean Cuisine Szechuan Style Stir Fry with Shrimp
Because I love seafood and noodles, I was really looking forward to trying the Lean Cuisine Szechuan Syle Stir Fry with Shrimp (try saying that three times fast)! When raw shrimp is included in frozen foods, it can be a toss up as to whether the shrimp is cooked enough upon microwaving. I popped this meal into the microwave for the recommended amount of time, but I had to add an extra minute to get all the shrimp cooked. Microwaves do vary in cooking intensity, and it was only a minor hassle.
The shrimp ended up tasting great, and I really liked the variety of vegetables which included baby corn, snap peas, carrots, and red peppers. The whole grain pasta also had a great texture. The sauce definitely had an Asian influence, but the hot and spicy kick to the sauce was masked by a lot of sweetness. The entree was very cohesive with all the flavors and textures.
Lean Cuisine Szechuan Style Stir Fry with Shrimp provides 230 calories and 2.5 grams of total fat, none of which is saturated. In fact, there is 43% of the recommended daily value for omega-3 fatty acids from the shrimp. Yes! The entree has 60 milligrams of cholesterol, which is 20% of the DV and that's largely attributed to the shrimp, 680 milligrams of sodium (28% of the DV), 13 grams of protein and 39 grams of carbohydrates, including 5 grams of dietary fiber and 13 grams of sugars. There's also 60% of the RDA for vitamin A, 10% RDA for vitamin C, 8% RDA for calcium, and 10% of the RDA for iron.
I paid $2.20 for this frozen entree while it was on sale at Kroger. I enjoyed all the components of the meal despite the slightly odd sweeter-than-spicy sauce. The omega-3 fatty acid content is beneficial for good heart health, but the amount of cholesterol may be a concern depending on each individual's diet. I'm glad I tried out this Lean Cuisine Szechuan Style Stir Fry with Shrimp and plan on purchasing it again.
