Healthy Choice Lasagna Bake
It looks like Healthy Choice may no longer be making this as it has the old design, but I found it on sale at Kroger for $1.50 - so in my shopping cart it went. Lasagna is delicious, but calories can be high for a small portion size because of all the pasta, cheese, and sauce tightly packed together. While this Healthy Choice Lasagna Bake isn't my image of quadrilateral-shaped lasagna, it basically has the same ingredients, and altogether, the meal is pretty hearty.
Shaped like crinkled ribbon, the pasta held the cheese and meat sauce well. There was just enough mozzarella cheese to add flavor without going overboard, and the sauce had the standard kick of a tomato sauce. The ground beef and pork contributed another texture to the lasagna, and to round out the meal, there was also a small, separated section for some mediocre broccoli and carrots. While I love vegetables, clearly, the focal point of this meal is the lasagna.
The Healthy Choice Lasagna Bake provides 220 calories from 4 grams of total fat, including 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 580 milligrams of sodium (24% DV), 10 grams of protein and 36 grams of carbohydrates, 6 grams of which are dietary fiber. The meal also provides 40% DV vitamin A, 15% DV vitamin C, 10% DV calcium, and 15% DV iron.
The flavor wasn't too bad and the nutritional stats aren't too shabby either, but the overall meal could have been better if there had been more effort put into the vegetables. This is one of those meals that's not bad but not good either - highly unremarkable (and I guess that might be why it's no longer on the Healthy Choice roster).

Hopefully I can get my hands on one of these before it's gone forever.
