Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Grilled Whiskey Steak
When it comes to meat in frozen meals, I usually go for chicken, but beef can be a healthy option too if it's lean. The Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Grilled Whiskey Steak is a nicely portioned, traditional "steak 'n potatoes" meal. It's described as, "Premium hunks of beef steak, roasted potatoes, and healthy vegetables with a whiskey barbecue sauce, and serving up a whopping 6 grams of fiber."
The beef was cut into bite-size pieces and had a nice texture. The potatoes were delicious and kept their shape well, while the vegetables which included green beans, corn, and tomatoes, added a subtly sweet adjunct flavor. The predominant flavor by far came from the BBQ sauce, which was appropriately sharp and sweet. Although I wouldn't say this is my favorite frozen dinner (or even my favorite from Healthy Choice), it still made for a tasty and delightful lunch.
Each Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Grilled Whiskey Steak provides 260 calories, 4 grams of total fat including 1.5 grams of saturated fat (6% and 8% of the daily value), 560 milligrams of sodium (23% DV), 17 grams of protein and 37 grams of carbohydrates which includes 6 grams of fiber (24% of the DV) and 14 grams of sugars. This meal is 5 WW points (nutrition facts from HC website)
This meal normally sells for $3.00 at Kroger. The high protein and fiber content is laudable, and the amount of sodium is typical of most frozen dinners. As a logistic point, if you're going to buy many of these Cafe Steamers meals, be sure there's enough room in your freezer because the steaming design makes these a little bulky.
