Edy's Whole Fruit Lime Fruit Bars

Edys Whole Fruit Lime Fruit BarsIf you like limeade (or lemonade, for that matter), you've got to try Edy's Whole Fruit Lime Fruit Bars. These bars have so much going for them: they're huge (each weighs in at a full 85 grams), they're delicious, and they're low-calorie. Furthermore, for those who avoid artificial sweeteners, you can rest assured that these don't contain any of that stuff.

I was first turned onto Edy's fruit bars by my dad. He gets the strawberry ones, but I've always been partial to citrus, so I bought a 6-pack box of the lime ones for $3.49 from FreshDirect (a NY grocery delivery company). The lime flavor was spot-on (probably because it contains real lime juice!), and it wasn't overly sweet. Some of the thoughts going though my head as I ate one of these bars: refreshing and tart, perfect to both quench my thirst AND satisfy my sugar craving, so delicious woohoo.

Let's talk nutrition facts. Each 85 gram of Edy's Whole Fruit Lime Fruit Bar provides 80 calories, no fat o protein and 20 grams of carbohydrates, 19 grams of which are sugars. There is also 25% of the RDA for Vitamin C. The ingredients are: water, sugar, lime juice from concentrate, citric acid, citrus pulp, natural flavors, guar gum, carob bean gum [thickeners], lime and lemon peel, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), Yellow #5, and Green #3.

As you can tell, I have one word for these bars - delish! I'd love it if they were cheaper (hopefully it'll go on sale soon) and had less sugar (had because lime is not exactly a "sweet" fruit), so I might have to go with some other flavors, like the Edys Frozen Coconut Fruit Bars - but this brand is a fantastic buy.

I used to eat these a lot when I was younger. It's good to know that they haven't really messed with the ingredients/formula and they are still awesome.
