Balance (Original) Peanut Butter Bar
I've tried lots of different varieties of nutrition and snack bars, so I have a short list of my favorites as well as my least favorites. I was actually looking for one of my old standbys while in the drugstore today, but I found that the one I was looking for was out of stock. I scanned the various other types, and, as I bemoaned the unavailability of my preferred flavor, stumbled upon a new, fantastic bar in the process. That bar? Balance Peanut Butter Bar.
I don't know why I haven't really gotten into the Balance Bar brand before now, because really, they're delicious! This one was especially good - the peanut butter taste was perfect (a word I don't use lightly). It wasn't at all artificial-tasting, just chewy and peanutty. Honestly, my first thought on eating this was, "I've died and gone to peanut butter heaven
." I couldn't believe how quickly I finished it!
A 50-gram Balance (Original) Peanut Butter Bar provides 200 calories, 7 grams of total fat, of which 3 grams is saturated (11% and 15% of the daily value), 160 mg sodium (7% of the DV), 15 grams of protein and 21 grams of carbohydrates which includes 17 grams of sugar but only 1 gram of fiber. There is also 25% of the daily value for most vitamins and minerals. This bar is consideed a low GI bar - 40/30/30 which means 40% of calories from carbohydrates and 30% each from protein and fats (source).
I bought this bar for just $1.89 at the drugstore. This bar is a big bar with big taste. If you like peanut butter, you must try this! And I know I intend to buy it again.

Ehh...never been a Balance fan. Too medicinal for my tastes. I love lower sugar Detours though!
There is fish gelatin in all of the Balance Bars...that's gross.
Only Balance Pure bars are gluten-free, not the other Balance bars. They are available in three flavors: cherry pecan, chocolate cashew, and berry chia. The website lists banana cashew, but that flavor is not in stores, not sold on the Balance website, and Whole Foods was unable to order it, despite having that flavor on their list.
