Weight Watchers Lemon Cake with Lemon Icing
When I opened my aunt's pantry the other day, I spotted a box of Weight Watchers Lemon Cakes and my sweet tooth basically made the decision for me. I dug into the box and pulled out a treat that seemed to be no longer than my pinkie. Needless to say, my anticipation waned a little bit. Each cake is 1 WW point; which must explain the doll-sized nature of the cake.
Looking past the size, and on to the taste, I was quite impressed. Each bite possessed a soft & spongy lemon infused cake base, topped with a firm layer of sweet lemon icing. It really was just as delicious as the name suggests.
Just as with the Weight Watchers Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Icing, Weight Watchers Lemon Cake with Lemon Icing has a wordy ingredient list that contains the dreaded words "partially hydrogenated" (code for trans fat). Despite the overly processed nature of the product, the nutrition profile isn't too shabby. Each cake (which is just shy of 28 grams) provides 90 calories, 3 grams of total fat (5% of the daily value), no saturated fat, 90 mg of sodium (4% of the DV), 1 gram of protein and 18 grams of carbohydrates which includes 3 grams of fiber (12% of the DV) and 11 grams of sugar.
Each box with 6 cakes costs approximately $3.85, which is a little pricey. Although I enjoyed the luscious lemon essence that this succulent cake provided, eating 1 was not enough to satisfy my sweet tooth ... maybe 2 would do it. Still, I would rather have a Back to Nature Banana Walnut Bakery Squares, which has a little more calories (130), but less sugar and the ingredient list is considerably better.
