Weight Watchers Smart Ones Shrimp Marinara
Some people say that seafood tastes better when you're near a harbor, but I get excited by seafood anywhere. I'm even willing to take a chance on seafood in frozen meals. There were so many pieces of shrimp in the picture on the box of this Weight Watchers Smart Ones Shrimp Marinara that I decided to try it out.
Surprisingly, there were quite a few pieces of shrimp in the actual meal, but they were small and precooked, so while all the shrimp were hot at the end of the microwave cycle, there was a resulting lackluster texture. The linguine was fine, and I liked the addition of mushrooms, however, the marinara sauce was too salty, which was unexpected because I have liked the tomato sauce from other frozen meals in the series, like the WeightWatchers SmartOnes Three Cheese Ziti Marinara.
Each Weight Watchers Smart Ones Shrimp Marinara provides 180 calories and 1.5 grams of fat, no saturated fat, 750 milligrams of sodium (31% of the daily value), 9 grams of protein and 31 grams of carbohydrates, including 4 grams of dietary fiber (15% of the DV) and 4 grams of sugar (here's the ingredients list).
I paid $1.99 for this meal at Target. While I appreciated how much shrimp was in the meal and the low calories, the sauce just didn't do anything for me and there was too much sodium. I wouldn't buy this meal as it is, but I think with a few tweaks, this could be fantastic.

I said, "Ooo!", then I read, "small and pre-cooked". Ugh.
