Tasty Bite Bombay Potatoes
Tasty Bite makes flavorful Indian & Thai meals and other ethnic dishes in ready to eat pouches. I decided to be adventurous and try the Tasty Bite Bombay Potatoes - that may not sound very adventurous, but I was starting off slowly!
This is described by Tasty Bite as "potatoes and chick peas slow-cooked in a sauce of tomatoes, onions and spices." It was super easy to prepare, and the result was ... different. It has the color of yellow-brown color of curry, and since I didn't read the description before hand, that's what I was expecting to taste. Instead, the sauce is light and although I enjoyed it, I think it was missing a certain ... depth when eaten on it's own. There was a surprising and pleasing spicy kick at the end of each bite.
When I decided to make a full meal out of this, paired with a heaping serving of Green Giant Simply Steam Baby Vegetable Medley, and some Minute Instant Brown Rice, it didn't enter my mind that I was eating a completely vegetarian meal (I usually miss the meat, but not this time). The chickpeas and small chunks of potatoes are wonderfully firm and the entire meal was delish.
The ingredients in Tasty Bite Bombay Potatoes are "Water, Potatoes, Chickpeas, Tomatoes, Onions, Sunflower Oil, Salt, Ginger, Garlic, Corn Starch, Coriander, Chilies, Cumin, Spices." It's vegan, gluten free & Kosher. Each package of Tasty Bite Bombay Potatoes contains 2 servings, each of which provides 100 calories, 4 grams of saturated fat (6% of the daily value) which includes 0.5 grams saturated fat, 17% of the daily value for sodium (410 mg), 5 grams of protein and 13 grams of carbohydrates which includes 3 grams of fiber and 2 grams of sugars.
This meal tastes a different from most ready-to-eat or frozen dinners, but I really enjoyed it as part of a meal. On it's own - not so much. A package costs almost $3.00 and I would definitely get this as you really can get 2 servings from this.
