South Beach Living Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza
I am not generally a big fan of the South Beach Living frozen entrees, which has actually been discontinued, but South Beach Diet Grilled Chicken and Vegetable Harvest Wheat Crust Pizza has been my one exception. Therefore, I figured that a few of their other frozen pizzas might be worth a shot, so I scooped the Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza. After 18 minutes in a 425 degree oven, I was fully prepared to dive in.
The "harvest wheat crust" is the perfect thickness; it is chewy, but thin enough that you still get some crunch. The sauce adorning the hearty base is not your average marinara. Instead, it is comparable to what you would find dripping off of a restaurant style buffalo wing. The special sauce gives the pizza a kick, but not to the point where it is unbearable (and I am not usually one for spiciness). The chicken has a great texture and, while there is not an over abundance, you get enough to satisfy your taste buds in each bite. My one complaint is the cheese (a very important factor when it comes to pizza). It does not melt in a gooey "pizza" way, like the front of the box displays, but just hardens a bit and melds together.
Each of South Beach Living Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza provides 350 calories, 13 grams of total fat of which 4 grams is saturated fat (both are 20% of the daily value), 600 mg of sodium (25% of the daily value), 31 grams of protein and 37 grams of carbohydrates which includes 8 grams of fiber (32% of the RDA).
Thanks to Target markdowns, I paid $2.32 for South Beach Living Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza. There is some room for improvement in the cheese and the amount of fat, but still, this wasn't too bad - and a suitable alternative if you want a change of pace without the enormous amount of calories and fat from regular pizza.
