Quaker Golden Brown Sugar Oatmeal Express

Quaker Golden Brown Sugar Oatmeal ExpressI eat a ton of oatmeal, but usually only in my apartment, since I would need to carry around the oatmeal packet and a bowl if I wanted to have this on the go. Quaker Oatmeal Express was designed with that in mind. It's basically a cup of oatmeal to which you can add hot water to "cook up" a delicious treat. There are three flavors available - Golden Brown Sugar, Cinnamon Roll, and Baked Apple - and I opted to try the Golden Brown Sugar variety. I bought one for $1.60 at the library cafe (where they happened to have hot water).

Mmm ... this was so good yummy. The maple and brown sugar flavors are rich and satisfyingly sweet - not overly so. There is also a slight hint of cinnamon which shines through - I add that to my oatmeal at home too so I was quite pleased with this.

Each 54 gram serving of Quaker Golden Brown Sugar Oatmeal Express provides 200 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 0.5 grams of which is saturated fat (4% and 2% of the daily value), 250 mg of sodium (10% of the DV), 5 grams of protein and 42 grams of carbohydrates which includes 4 grams of fiber and17 grams of sugar (same amount that's in the other 2 flavors as well). There is also 20% of the recommended daily amounts for various vitamins and minerals. The ingredients are standard for instant oatmeal, starting off with whole grain rolled oats and sugar (not high fructose corn syrup).

I loved this taste and convenience of this. The calories may seem like more than what's in other Quaker instant oatmeal (which usually has about 150 calories), but that's because there's more in a packet. There's 54 grams compared to 41 grams in Quaker Simple Harvest Apples and Cinnamon Oats Cereal. While I'll probably stick to the Simple Harvest line when I'm home because of the "clean and simple" ingredients list - Quaker Oatmeal Express will be traveling with me on those late nights at the library.
