Olde Hearth Honey Wheat Bagels
Bagels are a carb-loving dieter's worst enemy! However, I think it's about time that you had your bagel and ate it too. I have never been able to find Western Bagel: The Alternative Bagel or Kim's Light Bagels, which both received rave reviews. But why should that stop me from enjoying a much desired bagel? Especially, once I discovered the intriguing Olde Hearth Honey Wheat Bagels for only $1.50 at Target.
First off, they are delightfully doughy with a perfectly golden crust, just like a bagel should be. There are so many ways to utilize these hearty bagels because they have a flavor that is similar to the Honey-Wheat Crust at California Pizza Kitchen, which can compliment a number of toppings. You can toast them or eat them straight up; but my favorite creation so far is to slice one in half and top each side with a Laughing Cow Light Swiss Cheese Wedge, some thinly sliced onions, lentils and chili powder, which is then heated at 375 degrees in an oven for 10 minutes.
Each 81 gram Olde Hearth Honey Wheat Bagels provides 190 calories (which is fewer than two slices of Rudi's Organic Multigrain Oat Bread), 1 gram of fat (2% of the daily value), no saturated fat, 350 mg of sodium (15% of the DV ... ouch), 9 grams of protein and 38 grams of carbohydrates which includes 6 grams of fiber (23% of the DV) and 4 grams of sugar.
The ingredient list starts off with whole wheat flour and while it does contain high fructose corn syrup, it's fairly short and straightforward. I have had some light bagels before, but they just never seem to have the same doughy goodness and texture as their higher calorie counterparts. I think that Olde Hearth has discovered the ideal middle ground and I will surely indulge in their delicious creations again.

Only a $1.50 - that's a steal! :) Thanks for sharing!
An excellent idea for a low-cal, low-fat snack that will help curb a craving for pizza. Also something you can easily fix at the office. I love this blog, I'll be visiting regularly from here on out!
thanks for the recommendation. i will have to look for them.

Thanks for the tip I'd love to try these soon. I'll have to look for them next time I'm at target. Any bagel that's under 200 calories and still tastes decent is a winner in my book.
