Nature's Pride Double Fiber 100% Whole Wheat Bread

I was looking for a whole grain bread with lots of fiber and NO HFCS, which is why Nature's Pride Double Fiber 100% Whole Wheat Bread caught my eye. Since additional fiber is one of the main reasons to eat whole grain bread in the first place, I figured double would be better.
I made myself a sandwich with two of the large, hearty slices. Upon biting into it, I could tell that this bread must really be full of fiber - because it's sort of like soft sawdust! There's a wheat flavor, but it's mild and dull. I guess I was expecting a really robust wheatiness, maybe even with chunks of wheat berries or bran, but this really emulates those generic whole-wheat sandwich loaves that most store brands carry. I did like that when I packed a sandwich for lunch, despite a four-hour stint in the work fridge, the bread still held its shape and hadn't gotten soggy. However, that didn't make up for the taste that I disliked.
Each 43 gram slice of Nature's Pride Double Fiber 100% Whole Wheat Bread provides 100 calories, 1 gram of fat, 210 mg sodium (9% of the daily value), 4 grams of protein and 20 grams of carbohydrates which includes 6 grams of fiber and 4 grams of sugars. I guess they dumped salt in to make up for lack of flavor from the corn syrup they're so against. The ingredients include Whole Wheat Flour, Water, Inulin, Wheat Gluten, Yeast, Sugar, Cracked Wheat and Soy Fiber (more details at their website).
The nutrition facts are favorable but the lack of flavor will prevent me from buying this again. I found it at a promotional price of $1.77, but expect it to actually market for double that.

Firber One makes tasty, high fiber breads. I especially like their oatmeal bread. Both arnold anf Pepperidge Farm have come out with "thins", very thin, hamburger type rolls that have a good amount of fiber and are only 100 calories per roll. They also taste pretty good too. You should give them a try.
yikes- 6 grams of fiber per slice! too much for me. and apparently the taste isnt worth it either. although- i do like their original 100% whole wheat. its soft and perfect for a PB&J :)
I really like this bread and from the first time I found it have purchased no less than 5 loaves a week and am very dissapointed when I can't get it and have to settle for another brand on the store shelf. I find the taste wonderful and it has spoiled me for other breads.
Love the Stone Ground Whole Wheat With Honey Bread but I am unable to buy it dependably. Nature's Pride is pushing all the non-stone ground breads and I refuse to buy them. I only buy Stone Ground bread. Nature's Pride will lose my business completely if it doesn't get wise as well as healthy
I also love the Stone Ground Whole Wheat with Honey bread; and I'm disappointed when it's not available at Walmart.
