FitNutz Peanut Butter Mix

FitNutz Peanut Butter MixFitNutz Peanut Butter Mix comes as a powder for easy use and has an extended shelf life. It contains 91% less fat and 74% fewer calories than regular peanut butter. It is gluten free, contains no trans fats, no added hydrogenated oils, is cholesterol free, and is all natural.

It's kind of a strange idea, but quite interesting and definitely worth trying. I ordered a 5-ounce package of the Regular variety ($4.99) and a sample pack (single servings of each regular, pro, and chunky flavors, $1.99). The total price came to $11.98 with shipping - definitely pricey, but worth it to satisfy my curiosity!

One thing that drew me to this product was the fact that you control the consistency of the final spread. If you want creamier peanut butter one day and thicker the next, no problem. I scooped a couple of spoonfuls of the powder into a little cup and added the recommended amount of water. After mixing, I sampled a little bit of the final product before adding it to a sandwich. The taste is nice and peanutty; it's not as sweet as regular peanut butter, but I kind of liked that - it tasted more "natural". Pricey? Yes, but definitely worth a try.

The ingredients in this mix are refreshingly simple: peanut powder, sugar, and salt. There are only 50 calories in a 2-tablespoon serving of the dry stuff, with 1.5 grams of fat (2% of the daily value), none of which is saturated or trans, 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of carbohydrates which includes 1 gram of fiber and 2 grams of sugars.

It's definitely less caloric than regular peanut butter - not to mention the 6 grams of protein - and the fact that you have to mix it up may prevent some people (i.e. me) from spooning peanut butter straight from the jar. Better'n Peanut Butter and Justin's Organic Peanut Butter Butter are both great too but each has 100 calories per serving. So FitNutz Peanut Butter Mix can rival them both, with the only drawback being the price - this would be rather expensive if you ate peanut butter everyday.

I could see using this in a smoothie.

You ordered this online, but do you think a health food store or Whole foods would have it?

Another great product that is similar to this is PB2. Although I'm not sure which is more cost effective.

I love adding this in addition to real peanut butter to smoothies and "breakfast cookies". I think shipping is what them pricey. Hope they make it big and start getting grocery stores to carry them.

Bell Plantation is another place that sells peanut flour. I have used it and PB2 and they seem the same. Bell Plantation worked out to be a little cheaper. It is great in smoothies or baking. I only wish stores would start to carry this as the shipping makes it pricey!
