Cedarlane Beans Rice & Cheese Style Burrito

Cedarlane Beans Rice & Cheese Style BurritoI wanted to get away from the usual frozen meals I have for lunch and try something different. As I was cruising the supermarket aisles, I came across Cedarlane Beans Rice & Cheese Style Burrito (Organic) and thought this would do nicely. It seemed quite large, but it turned out that was just a trick of packaging. Nevertheless, it still turned out well.

Based on the name of the burrito, I was expecting lots of beans and grains of rice mixed with melty, stringy cheese, but that's not what I got. While the burrito had plenty of pinto beans, I did a double after seeing the scant amount of rice and cheese. Upon further examination of the burrito and ingredient list, I learned this uses brown rice and non-stringy soy cheese that weren't as noticeable. Though the filling wasn't what I expected, I did find it tasty with a very slight kick and appreciated the extra healthy edge to the burrito.

Each Cedarlane Beans Rice & Cheese Style Burrito provides 260 calories, 1 gram of total fat, no saturated fat or cholesterol, 490 milligrams (20% of the daily value), 13 grams of protein and 48 grams of carbohydrates, 7 grams of which is fiber (28% of the daily value) and 2 grams of sugars (see more details on the ingredients & nutrition facts).

I paid $2.39 for this burrito at Kroger. I enjoyed the taste of all the ingredients of this burrito and was very pleased with the nutrition facts, namely the low fat and relatively sodium content (when compared to other frozen meals) and the high amounts of protein and fiber. Meat eater or not, this burrito is filling, light, healthy, and delicious!

Oh yeah, I'm totally with you on this one! I had this for dinner last weekend, and loved it! The tortilla comes out so chewy and good, even for being frozen. I think it was only 4 WW points too!

costco sells boxes of these for really cheap, it comes out to like $1 a burrito. they taste like they shouldn't be healthy yet they are, it's fantastic.

I love burritos but have never tried this brand. Sounds yummy!
