Odwalla Carrot Juice
I had never had carrot juice before, and wasn't quite sure what to expect of Odwalla Carrot Juice. However, I love carrots, and some experiments in the kitchen have left me enjoying kale-banana smoothies, so I figured I was ready to venture into the world of vegetable juices.
First, a note about the nutrition. Odwalla Carrot Juice is 100% carrot juice, with the only ingredient being "pure pressed carrots." Fantastic! One bottle contains two 8 ounce servings, each of which has 70 calories, no fat, 1 gram of fiber, 13 grams of sugar, and 2 grams protein. Each serving also provides 520mg potassium (15% RDA), 400% Vitamin A, 4% calcium, and 4% iron. Pretty impressive!
Unfortunately, the taste was less than impressive. In fact, it was kind of gross. I smelled it before drinking, and it had a carrot-y odor - which wasn't surprising or bad - but unfortunately, it smelled like rotten carrots. I figured it couldn't possibly taste as bad as it
smelled, so I tentatively took a sip. Ugh! It was in fact just as bad as it smelled, if not worse. I'm not sure if I just don't like carrot juice in general, or if it was the brand - but this I will not be drinking again.
The texture was extremely smooth and somewhat thin, but not watery - I was impressed with that. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get over the flavor. I continued forcing sips down for a few minutes, hoping it would get better with time, but no dice. Though I paid $2.99 for this bottle of juice, and I almost never waste food even if I don't like it, I ended up throwing the bottle away with 3/4 of the juice remaining because I just couldn't stomach it anymore.
I will not be buying this product in the future, and would not drink it even if it were free. BUT to show you how tastes differ, over at The Skinny Plate, Stephanie loved it. So tell us - have you tried it? Do you like it?

It tastes like carrot juice to me. Not great, but not bad either. Just like liquid carrots. Maybe yours was spoiled?
Usually carrot juice drinks have tiny bit of apple juice to make it palatable. straight carrot juice is bad no matter who the vendor. too bad, because I love carrots.
I'm thinking it was spoiled. Carrot juice has a natural sweet flavor to it and is really good. I think even if you didn't like carrot juice, you would still be able to stomach it.
i love odowalla. i'm not sure how i feel about the carrot juice one tho.
