When I bought the Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Grilled Chicken Marinara, I wasn't expecting much with the ordinary description and picture on the box, "chicken breast, pasta & broccoli florets in marinara sauce." When I ate it, though, I was really surprised by how good it was.
The packaging allows the meal to be steam cooked in a compartment that sits on top of the larger bowl of sauce. The penne pasta, bite-sized chicken, and broccoli came out with a nice texture. The Parmesan cheese was sparse but nicely melted on top. The marinara sauce had more dimension than I thought it would with its zing and mild sweetness. Altogether, I would say this was a solid meal.
Each Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Grilled Chicken Marinara entree provides 270 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, including 1.5 grams of saturated fat (7% and 8% of the daily value), 550 milligrams of sodium (23% of the DV), 21 grams of protein and 35 grams of carbohydrates, which includes 5 grams of which are dietary fiber (20% of the DV) and 5 grams of sugar. There is also 35% of the DV for vitamin C.
Healthy Choice entrees cost as much as $3.00 at Kroger - but there are often sales & coupons. I liked it and would buy it again when it's on sale, because although it doesn't have a wow factor, it still tastes good and is a bargain at cheaper prices.
