Dasani Essence Black Cherry Flavored Water
One of the reasons people have a hard time leaving sodas alone, is that drinking plain water all the time can be rather boring. Sure, there's nothing like a glass of ice water after a long workout or on a hot summer day, however, usually when I'm looking to sip something, I like a bit of flavor to spice it up. To that end, I decided to try Dasani Unsweetened Lightly Flavored water in Black Cherry Essence. It didn't hurt that each bottle was on sale for $1.49 each, down from $1.99. That's still a bit higher than I like to pay for water, but I was sufficiently intrigued.
I opened the bottle as soon as I got home and took a sip. I can't say I loved the taste; I'm not a fan of Dasani water in general (I think it has a weird aftertaste), and this was a combination of that strange taste with a tiny hint of black cherry flavor. I actually ended up adding Crystal Light lemonade to this, which made it much better (is there a future for black cherry lemonade water, I wonder)?! Even the folks over at Bevnet agree, "While the aroma is definitely that of cherry, the flavor is only faintly recognizable. Furthermore, it's basically a bitter flavor, lacking the sweet note that helps balance out cherries and cherry flavored products."
Seeing as this is water, the nutritional information is pretty standard - no calories, fat, protein, etc., and just 25 mg of sodium (1% of the RDA). One good thing about this stuff is that it has no sugar, no sweeteners, and no preservatives. In terms of non-sweetened water, however, I prefer Metromint, because it has stronger flavor. Dasani's take on the unsweetened water craze just wasn't worth it for me.

I agree. I am NOT A FAN of dasani flavored waters. The 10 cal Vitamin Waters are great. and so are some of the 0 calorie Sobe waters, if you have a chance to try them - i like pear, fruit punch (i think that's what it's called) and the melon flavor the best.
