South Beach Diet Chocolate Peanut Butter Meal Replacement Bars
I have a new love, and its name is South Beach Diet Meal Replacement Bars in Chocolate Peanut Butter. I stumbled upon this bar in my usual pre-workout scan of the nutrition bar shelf at the drugstore.
These bars are a generous size - I'm talking 60 grams of chocolate peanut buttery goodness per bar - much bigger than Luna Bars (48 grams), Balance Bare Bars (50 grams), even Kashi Crunchy! Bars (50 grams).
Let's talk about taste. This bar is fantastic
. The peanut butter taste is rich and delicious, and the chocolate coating on one side makes it even better. The soy protein crisps are smaller than those in Kashi Crunchy! bars, which makes this bar (dare I say it) even more enjoyable and snackable. All I can say is - yum!
Each immensely satisfying South Beach Diet Chocolate Peanut Butter Meal Replacement Bar provides only 210 calories from 7 grams of fat, 3 grams of which is saturated fat, 350 mg sodium, 6 grams of fiber, & only 1 gram of sugar (17 grams of sugar alcohol), 19 grams of protein, and a bevy of vitamin and minerals. I thought the sugar alcohols might give me stomach trouble (like with Jelly Belly Sugar Free Jelly Beans), but there were no problems there for me.
I bought one bar at the drugstore for $2.19, which is definitely pricey. However, when I got home I saw that a 12-pack of these delicious treats was only $18.88 at Amazon.com. I highly recommend these bars - awesome flavor, high protein and fiber, all in one product.

Thanks for this review. I had never given these bars a try because I didn't think they would be as good as the Luna and/or Kashi bars. I will definitely have to give them a try now!
I just bought a 6 pack of these at Target today for $5.99 (based on your glowing recommendation - thank you for all of your wonderful reviews! Good or bad, I know they are honest and mostly we're in agreement *s*)
Thanks!
