Green Giant Digestive Health Frozen Vegetables

Green Giant Digestive HealthGreen Giant says their Health Blends mix of vegetables, "contain premium vegetables, uniquely blended and lightly tossed with a great tasting sauce to provide you with specific nutrients to help you feel at your body's best." Well, how could I resist?! I surveyed the various types such as Healthy Vision, Healthy Weight (which got our elusive 5 kiss rating), Immunity Blend, before settling on trying the Green Giant Digestive Health because it seemed like an interesting mix in a convenient, compact package.

The carrots, beans, and spinach come in a Steamable bag, and I love how you just have to pull the bag open to access your food. All the components came out with a firm texture, and the garlic herb sauce made from a canola oil base provided a thick layer of additional flavor, which unfortunately, masked the natural flavors of the vegetables. This may be seen as a good thing as those who don't like vegetables. The sauce was delish, so it was still a win-win situation.

A 1/2 cup serving prepared or 3/4 cup serving frozen of Green Giant Digestive Health Vegetables provides 90 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat, none of which is saturated, and no cholesterol. Each serving has 390 milligrams of sodium (16% of the daily value), which can add up if you eat the whole bag (2 servings) like I did. Each serving also has 14 grams of carbohydrates, and of those, a whopping 5 grams are dietary fiber, which are the reason behind the digestive health description. There are also 4 grams of protein.

I paid $1.52 for a 7 ounce package at a Wal-Mart. This frozen food was easy to prepare, good to eat, and pretty healthy, but I was a little wary about all that salt. For health nuts and vegetable haters alike, the Green Giant Digestive Health finds a way to please with the variety of vegetables and beans and with the sauce as well.

I like the steam-in-bag vegetables but I avoid any that have sauce because of the amount of sodium they usually contain. I prefer putting my own dressing or sauce on the vegetables so I can control the amount of sodium.

I love these things. They're a quick, easy way to get your veggie intake in, and make fabulous side dishes. But I don't buy them all too often, as I also have a problem with the amount of sodium.

Vegetables are the best. In fact I eat them raw!

In addtion make sure you drink a lot of water for ultimat health, especially instead of soda or coffee.

My wife is going to love getting this for the family! We both have busy lives and this is a quick and cheap way to get your veggie intake for the day. Thanks a lot for the review!

I really like Gerber's Whole grain animal cookies. They disappeared from our grocery store. I
found out Gerber's is not making right now. They may be back in August-Sept.
I sure miss them !!
