Fiber One Oats & Peanut Butter Bars

Fiber One Oats and Peanut Butter BarsThe vast array of "nutrition bars" in the supermarket aisles can be daunting. My strategy is to go for bars that have some "extra" nutritional content, such as high protein or lots of fiber. It's the impressive fiber content of the Fiber One Bars that make these a must-buy for me. The Fiber One Oats and Chocolate bars have already been given a thumbs up, so I decided it would be safe to venture in to another flavor and settled on the Fiber One Oats and Peanut Butter Bar.

The only other bars I have come across with more fiber have been the Gnu Bars with 12 grams. The Fiber One bars are pleasantly chewy and seem to melt in your mouth, while the Gnu bars are grainy and gritty. I could not even detect peanut butter in the Gnu Peanut Butter bar while the Fiber One Oats and Peanut Butter is satisfyingly creamy and sweet. Besides, the Fiber One bars are much easier to find because they are sold in most grocery or convenience stores. These may have been dubbed "glorified candy bars", but really are a better option when you get a sweet tooth. Plus, they are great for a little snack in between meals because they keep you from getting too hungry.

Each 40 gram Fiber One Oats & Peanut Butter Bars provides 150 calories, 4.5 grams of total fat, 2 grams of which is saturated (7% and 11% of the daily value), 4% of the DV for sodium (105 mg), 3 grams of protein and 28 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 9 grams of fiber (35% of the DV) and 9 grams of sugars.

These are typically sold for $3.50, which is a bit pricey for 5 bars, but I am not complaining because this inadvertent portion control stopped me from eating them all at once.

Currently, Target stores carry boxes of 6 for $1.99. A better deal!

I try not to snack on anything that comes in a box. Too much sugar and chemicals. Try eating more raw food. In addition drink plenty of water and you will be losing weight and feeling great!

You should try/review the South Beach Living Fiber fit bars (http://brands.kraftfoods.com/SouthBeachLiving//CMS_Templates/IFrame_Template.aspx).

The s'more flavor is insanely delicious! It taste just like a Hershey's S'mores candy bar.

OMG I love the s'mores bar by South Beach. I was highly impressed with it, although the marshmallowy topping stuck to the wrapper. :(

I need to find and try these new Fiber One bars. I really love the Oats & Chocolate one, and I am a peanut butter pig so I just know I would love these as well.
