Edy's Slow Churned Double Fudge Brownie Ice Cream

Edys Slow Churned Double Fudge Brownie Ice CreamEdy's (or Dreyer's) Slow Churned Ice Cream is one of my favorite brands of ice cream. The Slow Churned results in a reduced calorie and fat ice cream that still tastes delicious and creamy. While I do like all kinds of ice cream, I favor ice cream that's more creative than just plain vanilla or chocolate, so when I looked around the ice cream aisle, I decided to try Edy's Slow Churned Double Fudge Brownie Ice Cream.

This ice cream is all about the chocolate with a chocolate ice cream base for the fudge ribbon and little pieces of brownie that are mixed in. The chocolate ice cream is nice and creamy, and the fudge ribbon was pretty but didn't really add much to the overall flavor. I liked chewing on the brownie pieces, but they were too small for my taste. Overall, the double fudge brownie flavor was good but not great.

Each 1/2 cup serving of Edy's Slow Churned Double Fudge Brownie Ice Cream provides 120 calories and 4 grams of fat, 2 grams of which are saturated (6% and 10% of the daily value), 20 milligrams of cholesterol (7% of the DV) and 50 milligrams of sodium (2% of the DV). Each serving also has 3 grams of protein and 18 grams of carbohydrates, including 13 grams of sugars and less then 1 gram of dietary fiber (see more nutritional information at Edys.com).

A 1.5 quart container cost $3.00 while it was on sale at Target. The nutritional data isn't too bad, but while this ice cream is tasty, it isn't particularly memorable, although it serves well to satisfy a chocolate and/or ice cream craving - provided you don't overdo it on the portion size.

Although I'm a chocolate woman, I don't normally favor chocolate flavors, but this is good! I didn't notice the brownies pieces, though. Maybe I ate too fast??
