Wheat Thins 5 Grain Fiber Selects

Wheat Thins 5 Grain Fiber SelectsI love Wheat Thins for their slightly sweet wheat taste mixed with the supplemental salt on the surface. I usually get the Reduced Fat version, but I saw the "new" label on these Wheat Thins 5 Grain Fiber Selects and decided to give them a try. They boasted, "5 grams of fiber per serving" and this variety was made from whole grain flour unlike some other Wheat Thins (like Wheat Thins Veggie Chips).

The crackers have a hexagonal shape that's slightly larger than the regular size of the regular Wheat Thins squares but still have the light sprinkling of salt on top. I didn't break out the calipers, but it seemed like these crackers may be slightly thicker than the regular Wheat Thins, but they had all the crunch and munch with the added bonus of all the grains.

One serving of Wheat Thins 5 Grain Fiber Selects consists of 13 crackers which provides 120 calories from 4.5 grams of fat, which is between the total fat content per servings of regular and of reduced fat Wheat Thins, and of those, 0.5 gram is saturated. There is no cholesterol, but each serving does have 260 milligrams of sodium (11% of the daily value) plus 2 grams of protein and 22 grams of carbohydrates, including 5 grams of fiber (20% of the daily value) and 2 grams of sugars (more nutrition details at Nabiscoworld.com).

An 8 ounce box with about 8 servings typically costs $2.75 at Kroger. Though some may not like that high fructose corn syrup makes an appearance in the ingredients list, it also features whole grain flour as mentioned before along with oat fiber and even golden flax seed. As a snack, Wheat Thins 5 Grain Fiber Selects is a good way of increasing your fiber intake without dramatically changing typical food intake. They were quite tasty with the crunch and texture of the grains.

Wheat thins are so damn good. I try not to buy them too frequently because I go throught the box way too quickly.

I second Julie! I actually really liked these, and was glad to see the first ingredient was "whole."

I love wheat thins. I will have to try these. Do the fiber select taste any different than the original ones?

I little, but nothing bad.
