Lean Cuisine Four Cheese Cannelloni

Lean Cuisine Four Cheese CannelloniUsually I don't bother to read the directions for frozen dinners; I basically just peel back two of the corners a bit and turn on the microwave. Apparently, that's not such a good idea with the Lean Cuisine Four Cheese Cannelloni because the plastic wrap pressed down on the tomato sauce, causing some of it to overflow onto the microwave itself. I reread the directions and found you're supposed to remove the film cover, and in this situation, it may have made a difference.

Lean Cuisine describes this meal as, "Cannelloni shells stuffed with a sumptuous blend of Cottage, Ricotta, Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese. Topped with a delicate tomato herb sauce and Parmesan cheese." This meal appeared smaller than usual, but that didn't deter me from the prospect of delicious pasta and cheese. The pasta had a good texture, but it seemed as though a lot of the cheese filling (ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and cottage cheese) escaped the pasta shell into the tomato sauce. I did like the tomato sauce with its salty zing, but there was too much of it for my taste.

One package of Lean Cuisine Four Cheese Cannelloni provides 240 calories and 6 grams of fat, including 3 grams of saturated fat (9% and 15% of the daily value), 20 milligrams of cholesterol (7% of the DV), 29% of the DV for sodium (690 milligrams), 17 grams of protein and 30 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of which are dietary fiber and 9 grams of sugars (more details at LeanCuisine.com).

I was expecting a lot out of this meal, but the components of the cannelloni just didn't really come together that well and the amount of sodium is fairly high even for a frozen entree. I paid $1.98 for the Lean Cuisine Four Cheese Cannelloni at a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, but despite the low price, I don't think this meal measures up to quite a few of the other Lean Cuisine meals.

Salty-zine? Yay! Cottage cheese? Oh heck no! Thanks for the info. I won't be buying.

Let's make some from scratch instead???

I thought the meal was decent but I think they could bulk it up more by adding more veggies
