Lean Cuisine Chicken with Almonds

Lean Cuisine Chicken with AlmondsLean Cuisine entrees are probably my favorite frozen meals. I usually buy the same ones over and over because they are so good (like Lean Cuisine Chicken Pecan, Lean Cuisine Lemongrass Chicken and Lean Cuisine Salmon Mediterranean) but I decided to branch out with this Lean Cuisine Chicken with Almonds. I had seen it so many times before and thought about buying it, but now I have finally done it.

The name of this entree sounds lackluster, but this entree is quite delectable. The white rice worked really well with the sliced almonds and veggies, which included broccoli, green beans, and carrots. The portion of chicken was rather generous, but the unifying element was the sauce; quite tasty and reminiscent of a sweet soy sauce, but perhaps nearing the threshold of being too sweet depending on your palate.

One package of Lean Cuisine Chicken with Almonds provides 260 calories, 6 grams of fat, 0.5 gram of which is saturated (6% and 3% of the daily value), 10% of the DV for cholesterol (30 milligrams), 490 milligrams of sodium (20% DV) and 34 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of which are dietary fiber and 13 grams of which are sugars. Each dish has 17 grams of protein and vitamins A and C, calcium, and iron in amounts ranging from 4-8% DV (more details at LeanCuisine.com).

This Lean Cuisine entree normally sells for $3.00 at Kroger (but Lean Cuisine goes on sale regularly). The quality of the ingredients was very good as was the taste of the entree. The calorie and fat content are reasonable and the low salt content is on the lower end for a frozen dinner. I'm not sure if this entree has made it as one of my top favorites, but it definitely holds its own.
