Kozy Shack No Sugar Added Rice Pudding
I'm not the biggest fan of rice pudding, but when I saw that Kozy Shack No Sugar Added Rice Pudding had a "new improved taste," I decided that it was about time I give this type of pudding another chance. The fact that the calories had been reduced from 90 to 70 didn't hurt either!
What's in this rice pudding? I flipped over the package and discovered a pleasingly short list of ingredients: low fat milk (vitamin A and D), water, rice, inulin (chicory root extract), eggs, natural flavors, salt, sucralose, and carrageenan. I opened up a package to see if the flavor was really new and improved, and found a pleasingly sweet, thick rice pudding. The thing that I find so strange about rice pudding (and tapioca, for that matter) is the texture, but I found that this one was very appealing. I liked the flavor and the richness, and found that one cup was very satisfying.
As for nutrition, one 4-ounce cup of Kozy Shack No Sugar Added Rice Pudding provides 70 calories from 1 gram of fat, 120 mg of sodium (5% of the daily value), 3 grams of fiber, 5 grams of sugar, 4 grams of protein, and 10% of the RDA for calcium. Really, that's a pretty healthy snack! The fiber and protein counts are really great for a dessert.
One 4-pack cost $4.19, which was a bit on the pricey side, but still worth it. I really liked this rice pudding and will definitely be buying it again. If you're looking for an alternative to regular vanilla or chocolate pudding, give this a try!

Oh well. I wanted to try until you told me about the sucralose. I used to buy "fresh" rice pudding from the cold cuts deli section, but they once sold me a rotten container! That's the last time I ate rice pudding.
I've not tried this - but their regular sugared rice pudding is out of this world AND has a short ingredient list: rice, milk, eggs, vanilla and real sugar. Problem is I can eat the whole tub in one sitting!
I was very impressed by this pudding as well. I also love the tapioca. :)
I'm so used to my friend's recipe for traditional arroz con leche that I find the pre-packaged rice puddings to be offensive. I do, however, like their tapioca pudding.
I love KOZY SHACK's rice pudding too, so I was very excited when I saw their announcement of the new recipe (trying to compete Jell-o rice pudding??)
But since I used to eat the previous version(no sugar added 90calorie one) this one was not as rich and satisfying.
It is just as it listed in the ingredient list: SKIM vs. FULL milk
I disagree completely, I think saving 20 calories has sacrificed the taste. I use to buy a case of 90 calorie Rice Pudding per week, until it was changed to 70. The "new and improved" texture reminds me of vanilla pudding with rice added. Whereas, the 90 calorie tasted just like rice pudding. As you can tell I'm bummed out about this change and i don't think the 90 calories packs will be making a return.
