Kashi Sicilian Veggie Pizza
Pizza is one of my top 5 favorite foods. Because of this, I am determined to find nutritious varieties that will fit into my healthy dietary regime, without sacrificing on taste. When I first saw the description of Kashi Sicilian Veggie Pizza, I knew I had to find it. Kashi says, "Experience taste inspirations from the south of Italy with this new stone fired pizza. This pizza blends all-natural ingredients and appealing flavors with its caramelized onions, grilled eggplant, fire roasted red peppers and kale that lay on top of a balsamic infused white bean tomato sauce."
Kashi wasn't lying. The Kashi 7 Whole Grains & Sesame crust is tried and true - soft and doughy, with an irresistible crunch taking emphasis. The cheese is not missed here because there is so much flavor going on. The caramelized onions, eggplant and roasted red peppers add not only their own unique flavor, but also a delightful textural element; while the subtle, yet flavorful balsamic-infused white bean tomato sauce completely makes the dish. The curly kale contributes to the colorful appearance, but does not add too much to your palate taste-wise. Overall, I feel that Kashi really stepped it up and created a great addition to the frozen food market for vegans and non-vegans alike.
A serving of Kashi Sicilian Veggie Pizza is 1/3 of the pizza (a little on the small side if you ask me). The good news is that the nutrition profile is so stellar; you can eat half of the pizza without any guilt. Why? Well, 1/3 of the pizza contains only 220 calories, 5 grams of total fat (8% of the daily value), 0.5 grams of which is saturated fat (3% of the DV), 530 mg of sodium (22% of the DV), 5 grams of fiber (21% of the RDA), 4 grams of sugar and 11 grams of protein. The sodium is a bit high; but it is a frozen pizza, so that is to be expected. The all natural and wholesome ingredient list can be found at Kashi's website.
Whether it's fair or not, cheese-less frozen pizzas are instantly compared to Amy's Roasted Vegetable Pizza in my mind; and Amy's always comes out on top (it's that amazing crust and caramelized onion sauce). Kashi Sicilian Veggie Pizza definitely holds it's own, but at a price of $5.00, I will definitely be buying this when it goes on sale or when I have a coupon. Otherwise, Amy's Roasted Veggie Pizza it is.

Okay, so it looks gross in the picture, but I trust Kashi (and your opinion), so I would buy. But I don't think I've seen this one. Bummer.
I have not been able to find this variety anywhere. All of the other ones are out and about, but this one continues to allude me. I really like the Mexicale black bean pizza, is it anything like that?
