Edy's Slow Churned Thin Mint Cookie Ice Cream

Edy's Slow Churned Thin Mint Cookie Ice CreamThin Mint is now almost synonymous with Girl Scout Cookies, but if want to bypass the 25% of the daily value for saturated fat, then I suggest you try Edy's Slow Churned Thin Mint Cookie Ice Cream (also the same as Dreyer's brand).

Edy's describes this as, "a refreshing and original flavor that combines white mint light ice cream and Thin Mint cookies" and they are spot on. The mint ice cream base is mild but amped up by the Thin Mint cookie crumbs. I have never seen so many cookie crumbs mixed into an ice cream before in my life. In fact, there are even pockets of Thin Mint crumbs within the ice cream so that you can also get that fresh cookie crumb texture ... so minty, cookie-licious and yum woohoo.

Each 1/2 cup serving of Edy's Slow Churned Thin Mint Cookie Ice Cream provides 120 calories and 4.5 grams of fat, 2.5 grams of which are saturated (13% of the daily value), (7% of the DV) and 60 milligrams of sodium (3% DV). Each serving also has 3 grams of protein and 18 grams of carbohydrates including 12 grams of sugar and no fiber. The ingredients list though does mention partially hydrogenated fats (the source is the crumbs from the Girl Scout cookies).

A 1.5 quart container cost $4.99 at Kroger. I would rather have a serving (1/2 cup) of the Edy's Slow Churned Thin Mint Cookie Ice Cream than a serving of Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies (4 cookies). The ice cream is going to satisfy my cookie AND ice cream cravings, be more filling and have 40 less calories and half the fat.

I have this in my freezer right now! So, so good, tastes like the real thing and actually not bad from a nutritional standpoint. Perfection :)

I remember when I was in Girl Scouts, we'd have half of the people who bought Thin Mints tell us they froze them just to crush on vanilla ice cream. Good times...

Samoas is okay too. Not enough "chunks" of cookies in it, but it's scattered with "chips" of cookies. Delish!
