Blue Diamond Lime n' Chili Almonds
When I'm in the mood for a snack, I like to reach for nutritious foods that will keep me full for awhile. I have found that protein-packed foods like Nuts are great for this purpose. I am a huge fan of Almonds - salted, unsalted, roasted, raw, you name it. So during a stop at a convenience store during a long car ride, I was excited to find Blue Diamond Bold Lime 'n Chili Almonds amongst the potato chips and donuts, providing me with a healthy snack that would not leave me hungrier a short time after. And for only 99 cents for a 1.5 ounce pack.
I don't know who the product development people are over at Blue Diamond, but I hope they won some kind of award for this flavor. These almonds are absolutely amazing
. The tangy lime flavor complements the spiciness of the chili flavor perfectly. The salty and sweet combination is to die for. I would highly recommend these for anyone looking for a nutritious and delicious snack.
The one issue most people have with nuts is portion control. The 1.5 ounce pack of Blue Diamond Lime n' Chili Almonds, or about 42 nuts is a very satisfying portion. But be careful because the actual portion size is supposed to be 1 ounce, about 28 nuts. Portion control is VERY important when it comes to nuts, because they are high in nutrients and thus calories. Each 1 ounce serving provides 170 calories, 16 grams of total fat (24% of the daily value), but only 1 gram is saturated (6% of the DV), 5% of the DV for sodium (120 mg), 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of carbohydrates which includes 3 grams of fiber and 1 gram of sugar. These nuts also provide over 50% of the DV for Vitamin E and are good sources of magnesium and calcium as well.
The calories are a bit high, at 260 for the whole pack, but considering these are much more nutritious than a 100-calorie pack of processed carby cookies, I did not mind the splurge. These almonds are flavored with canola and/or safflower oil, salt, and surprisingly, sour cream, according to the ingredients list.
If you have problems with portion control, I suggest dividing up the nuts into 1 oz portions. Other Blue Diamond almond varieties come in canisters to help mark off portions, since it can be a bit tricky to tell how much you are consuming. I will definitely be buying these again. Though on the high side as far as calories and fat go, they kept me much fuller than lower calorie, non-nutritious snacks and provided me with essential protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

It's definitely unique and sounds interesting enough to try, but I once bought their roasted almonds and they were terrible. Ugh!
You gotta try the Wasabi flavor too!
The jalapeno smokehouse it very yummy too. I agree, you really have to portion these out or they will be gone in less than a day!
These are so good. I like this one and the wasabi one.
Are these roasted or raw?
