Kellogg's Crispix Cereal

Kellogg's Crispix CerealIt takes a lot for me to test out a new cereal since I'm pretty much married to Kashi, Fiber One, and Shredded Wheat. However, I happened to com upon a SUPER deal at Target for Crispix, so I decided, why not try it?

The box describes Crispix as a lightly sweetened cereal has crispy rice on one side and crunchy corn on the other. That description doesn't exactly scream delicious ... and it wasn't. It was just ... okay. Somewhat bland, but not too bad either. I initially tested it out with milk, and ended up adding a banana for sweetness. It might be good with some almonds and dried fruit mixed in a trail mix, or maybe added for crunch into yogurt, but unfortunately, this really isn't a breakfast cereal for this girl. The lack of fiber made me hungry about an hour after I ate it. To be honest, I gave up on it and passed it along to the boy, who will eat just about anything rather than let it go to waste.

Each 1-cup serving of Kellogg's Crispix Cereal provides 110 calories, no fat, 9% of the daily value for sodium (220 mg), 2 grams of protein and 25 grams carbohydrates which includes only 3 grams of sugar but less than 1 gram of fiber. There are no added artificial sweeteners. There is also 70% of your RDA for folic acid and 45% of the RDA for Iron, which are sometimes hard to come by, especially for non meat eaters.

The nutrition facts is probably the most impressive thing about this cereal. I purchased this box of cereal for a measly 84 cents at Target as it was on clearance AND I had a coupon, but it regularly retails for $2.99 a box. I would probably buy it again if I got it for such a low price, but at full price, no thank you!

I actually really like this stuff - it's a nice refreshing change from overly sweetened cereals. It also makes for amazing peanut butter/chocolate snack mix, if you want to use up the rest!

I too like this stuff, but I think it's because (as said) it's not too sweet and I ate it all the time as a kid, so it is memorable. And the shape is fun.

Chex > Crispix

'Nuff said.
