Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Beef Merlot
Healthy Choice describes their Beef Merlot Meal as having "succulent cuts of beef steak with rosemary red potatoes tossed with a mouthwatering Merlot wine sauce for a meal that's only 230 calories." With a description like that - how could I resist trying it out?!
I was actually prepared for the worst, but this traditional "steak and potatoes" meal had good comfort food potential. The beef and potatoes turned out to be moist and well flavored. The green beans were firm, but the baby carrots were too hard for a cooked dish and seemed out of place in the meal. The Merlot sauce was a standard gravy sauce, which was distinctively thick and salty but tasty too.
Each Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Beef Merlot meal provides 240 calories and 8 grams of fat (12% of the daily value), including 2 grams of saturated fat (10% of the DV), 35 milligrams of cholesterol (11% of the DV) and 600 milligrams of sodium (25% DV). There is also 17 grams of protein and 23 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams of which are dietary fiber (20% of the DV) and 4 grams of sugars. You can also find 35% DV vitamin A and 10% DV iron.
This meal normally costs $3.00 at Kroger. I was surprised by the fat content but appreciated the high protein and fiber in the meal. The sauce was just a little heavy when I was in the mood for a light lunch, but I liked how this meal turned out for the most part. I would buy it again if it's on sale.

Interesting post. Sounds really yummy. Just by looking at that picture and reading this post, am getting hungry. If I didn't have time to cook a meal, I wouldn't mind trying this from time to time. I like beef and potatoes and vegetables. And you can get your protein, vitamins and fiber from this one meal. Thanks for sharing.
I love this meal. It is my favorite from the HC Steamers line.
I am addicted to the beef merlot. But last ones i got the sauce was different and it didn't quite taste as good. Did they change their recipe or something. If so i probably will quit buying the beef merlot
