Healthy Choice Four Cheese Manicotti
There's something very comforting to me about a delicious pasta and cheese dish. Alas, the high fat content prevents me from making this type of meal anything but an occasional indulgence for me. So when I saw Healthy Choice Four Cheese Manicotti, you know I had to go for it because I figured HC had figured out a way to "healthify" this dish.
While the main part of this frozen meal is the manicotti, there is also a separated section of unmodified broccoli. They were still tasty to me, but I suppose they might not be so great if you are vegetable averse. As for the manicotti, the pasta was a tasty covering for the ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan and romano cheeses, which fortunately didn't leak out too much from the manicotti. The marinara sauce, though, was barely more than a sweet tomato sauce. It didn't have a very complex flavor, but everything came together to make for a pleasant, enjoyable meal.
Each Healthy Choice Four Cheese Manicotti dish provides 380 calories, 6 grams of total fat (9% of the daily value), 3 grams of which are saturated (15% of the DV), and 20 milligrams of cholesterol (8% of the DV). There are 520 milligrams of sodium (22% DV), which is surprisingly lower than a lot of frozen meals, plus 16 grams of protein, 8 grams of dietary fiber (32% of the DV) and 23 grams of sugar. This meal also provides a host of vitamins and minerals, most notably a whopping 50% DV of vitamin C and calcium!
This meal normally sells for $2.50 at Kroger. Despite the debatable sauce, this was tasty enough for a pleasant lunch, and I will probably buy this meal again in the future.
