Amy's Burrito Especial
In my search for different frozen lunch options, I came across this Amy's Burrito Especial. I've often heard of the high quality of the Amy's brand, so I was curious to see how this burrito panned out, especially with the "Especial" description.
The outside of the burrito looked appealing but pretty ordinary. According to the front part of the packaging, this burrito was "made with organic black beans, rice, and tomatoes," but it doesn't mention that it also has cheddar and Monterrey jack cheeses. Despite the significant billing in the description, the tomatoes don't really play a large role in the burrito. Overall, the mild filling was still tasty but unremarkable.
One of Amy's Burrito Especial provides 270 calories and 6 grams of total fat (10% of the daily value), 1.5 grams of which are saturated (7% of the DV). There are 5 milligrams of cholesterol and 620 milligrams of sodium (26% DV). In addition, the burrito has 45 grams of carbohydrates, including 4 grams of dietary fiber (16% of the DV), and 9 grams of protein. This burrito is also 91% organic.
This 6 ounce burrito cost $2.89 at Kroger. While it was pleasant and nutritionally a good source of protein and fiber, the burrito wasn't particularly memorable or "especial." I wouldn't call it a favorite of mine, but it was still a decent lunch.

Taste wise this is one of my favorite Amy's burritos, but the tortilla does get a bit squishy during the microwaving process, which irks me. My area Target carries several types of Amy's burritos for $1.79 a piece, which is the cheapest I've found them.
Allison - I think most frozen burritos turn out that way, ah well.
For having two types of cheeses that's impressive nutritionals! I like their cheese-free one, it's great!
Ahhh, the memories. I used to eat frozen burritos all the time as a teen. My food standards were pretty low back then. I'm sure Amy's Burrito tastes better....now I'm hungry.
