WestSoy Soy Slender
Gone are the days of only finding soy milk only in specialty stores. Now even my 'mom and pop' grocer carries the stuff. Recently I saw WestSoy Soy Slender on a buy one get one free sale, so I grabbed both the Chocolate and Vanilla flavors to try.
I was actually quite pleased with them both. The vanilla was nice and creamy and the chocolate had a very real chocolate taste. Both flavors were sweet enough for my liking (thanks to sucralose). Wondering what makes this soy milk so 'slender'? Well the nutritional stats are pretty impressive. One 8 oz glass (for both flavors) provides only 70 calories - but Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Milk provides only 45 calories per cup. Still, they are both less than half the calories of "regular" chocolate milks that we're used to, like Organic Valley Reduced Fat Chocolate Milk which has 170 calories per cup.
Each 8 ounce serving of WestSoy Soy Slender also provides 3 grams of total fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat (5% and 2% of the daily value), 5% of the DV for sodium (125 mg), 6 grams of protein and 4 grams of total carbohydrates which includes, 3 grams of which are fiber (13% of your daily needs) but no sugar.
Overall, I think this is a great product, especially at 2 for $2.79 which was the sale price. It's a healthy balance of fats, a good source of fiber and protien. Add this to your cereal, drink it straight when water just won't cut it - and it's is also delicious warm!

There is a coffee flavor that's really good too!
Beware, for those substituting soy for reg milk, not all soy milks are fortified with calcium and vit D. O know Silk is and Blue Diamond Almond milk is as well.
BTW, what is the test for "soy milk gone bad"?
Chunks. That's what I realize when it goes bad.
I love the Vanilla; it is great in coffee!
