Breyers YoCrunch Light Cookies n' Cream Yogurt

Breyers YoCrunch Light Cookies n' CreamLowfat yogurts have certainly come a long way and are now one of my favorite low calorie snacks. I usually prefer eating yogurt by itself, but I decided to try out this YoCrunch Light Cookies n' Cream, which is described on the container as "light nonfat yogurt with Oreo cookie pieces."

The yogurt itself has a vanilla flavor that was quite good on its own, but it was fun mixing in the Oreo pieces. There were enough cookie pieces to distribute nicely in the container of yogurt so that each spoonful of yogurt had some crunch from the cookies. The mild tartness of the yogurt was an interesting contrast to the direct sweetness of the Oreos. The overall effect was a not-too sweet creamy, crunchy flavorful yogurt.

One 6 ounce container of Breyers YoCrunch Light Cookies n' Cream Yogurt provides 120 calories, 2.5 grams of fat which includes 1 gram of saturated fat (4% and 5% of the daily value), 140 milligrams of sodium (6% of the DV), 5 grams of protein and 19 grams of carbohydrates, including 11 grams of sugars. In addition, there is 20% of the daily recommendations for both vitamin D and calcium. The Oreo cookie pieces contribute 50 calories and 4 grams of sugar. The artificial sweeteners, aspartame and acesulfame-K are used in this yogurt.

Each container with the 6 ounce yogurt and accompanying cookie pieces cost 68 cents at Wal-Mart Supercenter. The taste, though not extraordinary, is satisfying. There are other low calorie options out there such as Dannon Light n Fit 0% Plus Strawberry Yogurt, but on average, the amount of sugars is about the same as in most other low fat yogurts, but there are a few out there with added benefit such as Yoplait Fiber One Vanilla Yogurt which has 20% of the fiber daily value (in a 4 ounce container).

I think its important to note that the container of this yogurt is quite deceiving in terms of the nutrition facts. The yogurt itself has 120 calories, BUT if you choose to add the Oreo crumbles, it adds about 70 calories.. (there's a SMALL disclaimer at the bottom of the yogurt). I think should be placed adjacent to the nutrition facts for the yogurt.. but thats just my opinion!

Are you sure? Because I checked the website and it clearly lists "yogurt with oreo pieces" as being 120 calories...maybe you're thinking about the regular flavor, not the light?

OK, I completely messed up on that last post. The disclaimer on my yogurt cup IS for the lowfat yogurt rather than the nonfat, so what I previously wrote is not correct at all. If possible, could my posts be deleted? It's been a long day...

Haha, Delia, we understand. It was 'hump' day.
