Wonder Whole Grain Honey Wheat Bread

Wonder Whole Grain Honey Wheat BreadWonder Bread is perhaps the quintessential white bread, but, in an effort to stay current and stay afloat after emerging from bankruptcy protection, the company has branched out to produce new variations of Wonder Wheat Breads. This includes Wonder 100% Whole Wheat, Light Wheat, Whole Grain, Soft 100% Whole Wheat and Wonder Whole Grain Honey Wheat Bread which is what I tried. I'm a big fan of hearty bread, so I was curious to see how this new bread would be.

The bread had a softness that was very similar to the Wonder White Bread, which is perhaps more favorable to people who prefer white bread. However, I was hoping that the "whole grain" distinction would provide a nuttier texture to the bread. While this described as "honey wheat," I didn't think the bread tasted particularly sweet. The crust especially lacked sweetness.

One serving is 2 slices (57 grams) and provides 140 calories, 2 grams of fat per serving, none of which are saturated, and no cholesterol, 330 milligrams of sodium (14% of the daily value), 6 grams of protein and 26 grams of carbohydrates, which includes 2 grams of dietary fiber (8% of the DV) and 4 grams of sugars. There is no vitamin A or C in a serving, but all the other major vitamins and minerals are present in values ranging from 6-15% DV.

This loaf of bread was $2.89 at Kroger. The texture of the bread is better suited for people who prefer the simplicity of white bread than for those who like a more complex type of bread - and don't expect much sweetness. I do appreciate how Wonder is trying to improve their variety of breads, but I don't anticipate buying this kind of bread again.

Yeah, it's hard for me to imagine Wonder bread as having a hearty bread, it's always seems to light and fluffy (never been a white bread person, ick).

Bread had Big Holes in almost every slice
