Trader Joe's Frozen Edamame

Trader Joe's Frozen EdamameAs a self-proclaimed health nut foodie, I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I have NEVER tried Edamame! But after reading about how everyone seems to enjoy this treat, I decided to investigate. I purchased Trader Joe's Frozen Edamame, as I was impressed by the idiot-proof instructions and the hefty portion size.

Each 1/2 cup serving (the bag has about 3 servings) contains 120 calories, a whopping 10 grams of protein, 5 grams of fat including 1 gram of saturated fat, and 7 grams of fiber. Very impressive. It took just five minutes to cook on the stove-top, and they were pleasantly firm but completely cooked. They took a good long time to eat, so my brain was able to process satiety rather well, and I didn't overdo it with dinner this time. The naturally nutty taste of the soybeans came through, and I did not need any additional seasonings.

I purchased this bag at Trader Joe's for $2.29, which I felt to be very economical for such a great source of fiber and protein. Although the bag advertised 3 servings, I got 4 healthy side dish servings out of it, and enjoyed every bit. I would wholeheartedly recommend this as a fantastic grocery find.

I absolutely LOVE TJ's edamame! I always have some in my freezer!

Hubby and I love this Edamame. We don't put it direct in water but steam it instead and sprinkle a bit of sea salt on too. A very tasty treat and like you said it take a while to eat so that's a good thing.

Its also available at WM for 1.69. :)

Yums - edamame is a great snack, cooked and tossed with salt. We treat it like popcorn, put it in a big bowl and have it while watching TV.

I always keep some of this in the freezer. I think TJ's is the best deal I've found on frozen edamame second only to the brand available at the Asian grocer.

I never even cook mine. I just let it thaw and eat it raw. I'm a huge fan!!

You hadn't ever had edamame? That's so wrong! :) I'm glad you finally found it. Great snack/appetizer. :) One of my favs!

I love edamame. Eat them by the boat load.
