Nature's Plus Spiru-tein High Protein Energy Meal Simply Natural Original Vanilla Protein Powder
I'm a big fan of protein powders, for their nutrition as well as their versatility. The problem is some protein powders pack in hundreds of calories per serving. Not so with Nature's Plus Simply Natural Protein Powders. Each 32 gram serving of these unsweetened powders has just 80 calories. There are a few different flavors of the unsweetened stuff including Vanilla, Chocolate, Banana, Peaches & Cream, but the Vanilla flavor is my favorite.
Spiru-tein High Protein Energy Meal Simply Natural Vanilla Protein Powder is not sweetened so this allows you to add as much (or as little) sweetness as you like and in whatever form you want (Splenda, sugar, etc.). It tastes absolutely delicious when you add just a little bit of Splenda and it also combines well with other flavors, so it can be used in shakes as well as in oatmeal, pancakes, etc. I use this stuff all the time to add some additional protein and vitamins to my meals, so much so that I buy it from Vitacost.com for $23.27 for 1.63 lbs (way down from the suggested price of $36.75) plus shipping and handling. This is a worthwhile investment to me because it lasts for a long time (each 1.63-lb container has 32 servings).
A generously-sized scoop (32 grams) has just 80 calories as mentioned before, no fat, only 140 mg of sodium (6% of the daily value), 1 gram of fiber, and 14 grams of protein. Furthermore, this stuff is fortified with a bevy of vitamins and minerals - 100% of the RDA for each Vitamin A, D, E, B6, B12 Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Folic Acid, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Iodine, and Zinc, as well as 30% of the RDA of Calcium, and a few other vitamins interspersed along with these.
Protein powder isn't for everyone, but if you're a newbie interested in giving it a try or a long-time protein powder user looking to switch it up, this is definitely worth a shot!
