VitaBrownie Deep & Velvety Chocolate Brownie

VitaBrownieBrownies are every chocolate-lover's dream - dense and moist ... who can resist?! But with an average restaurant brownie weighing in at around 400-500 calories, these are by no means a snack to have regularly. There are some low-calorie options out there like Glenny's Brownies, but for another delicious, nut-sprinkled, low calorie brownie fix, look no further than VitaBrownie Deep & Velvety Chocolate Brownie.

Each brownie weighs in at a full 2 ounces (Glenny's is only 1.45 ounces per bar) but provides only 100 calories. Don't think that those 100 calories are deficient in nutrients, though - the folks over at Vitalicious manage to pack 6 grams of fiber (25% of the daily value for fiber) and 4 grams of protein (as well as 20% of the RDA for calcium and 50% of the RDA for Vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E, iron, folic acid, biotin and zinc).

These brownies taste pretty fantastic! The chocolate is way more natural-tasting than Glenny's, and the consistency of the brownie is dense and delicious. Although walnuts aren't my favorite, the sprinkling on the top of the brownies adds a little extra oomph. They are especially good when microwaved for 30 seconds (I've also eaten them cold and they're good that way too).

With the impressive nutritional stats, I had to wonder what the ingredient list looked like. When I turned over the package, I saw: water, whole wheat flour, egg whites, maltitol, organic evaporated cane juice, cocoa, chocolate chips, soy fiber, inulin, wheat gluten, dried honey, erythritol, wheat protein isolate, fruitrim, walnuts, natural flavor, leavening, lecithin, sea salt, xantan gum, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, folic acid, iron, biotin, zinc. Not the most pronounceable ingredient list, but far more natural ingredients than in some desserts.

A box of four goes for around $5.99 at the grocery store or $22.65 + shipping for four boxes of four at Vitalicious.com. Kind of pricey, but worth it for a portable, healthy chocolate snack - especially if you're feeling for something chocolatey.

I have wanted to try these for soooo long! Thanks for the review :)

THANK YOU for finally reviewing the BEST low calorie brownie there is. They come in a couple of flavors and if you have room in the freezer, by the variety pack of brownies and vita tops (just the top of the muffin) Lots of good chocolate stuff to be had.

yes these are really good- you can also get them by the case from Amazon - in addition to the impressive stats, they are really FILLING and will knock your craving for sweets flat out

Yup. I love these Vitabrownies and the Vitatops that Vitalicious makes. Makes for a guilt free dessert!!

I've had Glenny's brownies and the Smart Ones brownie sundaes, but never these. I'll have to try them. Thanks for the sugg! I do like VitaMuffins and VitaTops.

The vita-brownies are one of my favorite "healthy" desserts!

I think a lot of the unknown/weird ingredients are the added vitamins and minerals. It's not bad, though! I wonder why they used dried honey...

-weeps-

If you listened to Hungry Girl, these things are the nirvana of breakfast-desserts and should lead us into the rapter by afternoon coffee time.

But no store near me sells them! ...and I don't want to buy 4 boxes until I'm SURE they are an orgasm in my mouth.

The nutrionals and the taste seem to good to be true for only 100 calories!! Does anyone else agree? I almost want someone to do a test to double check. I'd eat th muffins multiple times a day if I could afford them. SO good. I like them w/some fat free pudding on top and warmed in the microwave. YUMMY
