Nature Valley Oats N Honey Granola Bites

Nature Valley Granola BitesI have been a fan of the Nature Valley Granola Bars for a long time. They are an all natural way to kick a sweet craving! So although I'm not a big fan of "100 calorie packages" when my mom saw these Nature Valley Granola Bites, she knew I would want to try them, so she picked up the Oats 'N Honey variety for me.

The picture on the package provides a genuine representation of the product. The flavor is subtly sweet and the texture is similar to a crunchy oatmeal cookie. The granola and crisp rice add a special element to the product's consistency. They are a bit lighter in color than regular Oats 'N Honey granola bars and the honey taste is more prominent in the bites. I got 12 bites that are about the size of a nickel, in my 0.67 ounce package and that was not a lot - just a handful. And therein lies my problem with 100 calorie packs - very little substance.

The nutritional stats are worth your while, but do represent a minuscule snack that will not provide satiety. Each box comes with 10, 19 gram packs, each of which contributes 100 calories, 3 grams of total fat (5% of the RDA), no saturated fat, 110 mg of sodium (5% of the RDA), 1 gram of fiber (4% of the RDA), 6 grams of sugar and 1 gram of protein. The ingredient list is pretty short, containing only 11 main ingredients, all of which are recognizable and the first ingredient is whole grain oats.

These bites cost $3.78 (purchased at WalMart). But the regular Nature Valley Oats N' Honey Granola Bars contains 24 twin wrapped bars (17.8 ounce) for about the same price as the bites. Therefore, you can have twice as much product (and twice the calories per serving which is still not a lot) for the same amount of money. In the future, I will be making a smart decision economically by purchasing the bars instead of the bites.

So that's what happened to the short lived Nature Valley cereal. I guess if you buy the packs they would make nice little additions to your cereal at least.

haha! yea I guess so! I used to buy that cereal and pick out the bites andd my family would eat the actual cereal! :)

I had these, when I was in America, at Christmas, is there anywhere that they can be bought online.

I agree that these bites do not satisfy anyone because it does not contain protein. All sugar really. The packs are pointless if one is going to eat 10 of them! Great website. I will tweet about it. I love their bars, but you can eat and it's 90 calories. Not a meal, but something nice to munch on.
