Jell-O Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix Singles

Jell-O Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix Singles I completely fell for an ad in a magazine for Jell-O Pudding Mix Singles. Something about being away from home, not having had homemade pudding for a while and a love for all things cold and creamy drew me in. I was so intrigued that I went to the store later that day to search them out.

Jell-O Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix Singles The directions say to add 1/2 cup of milk to one packet, stir vigorously for 1 1/2 minutes and let sit for 5 minutes. After wearing out my stopwatch, it was time to dig in. The appearance and prominent vanilla flavor is typical of pudding - although it looks nothing like the picture on the box. The color is a light yellow and the mixture looks thicker than it actually is - the consistency similar to that of an uncooked cake mix. Gigi Reviews makes a good point that you could just as easily purchase Jello Pudding Cups, which is already made and portioned for individuals.

The nutrition information is not too bad for pudding, but the ingredient list is nothing short of sugar (the first ingredient) and artificial ingredients. Each Jell-O Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix Singles (before adding milk) has only 90 calories, no fat or cholesterol, a whopping 350 mg of sodium (15% of the RDA), no fiber, 19 grams of sugar and no protein.

Without a doubt, this is, as Fit Bottomed Girls would put it, a "sometimes" food. They cost an average of $2.00 per box of 6. As cheap as it is, I don't think these will be making an appearance in my shopping cart any time soon. I would much rather reach for Jell-O Sugar Free Chocolate Vanilla Pudding Snack.

I'd just like to say that I was tempted to buy these awhile back. But then I thought, it's cheaper to just use a 1/2 cup milk and measure out (in grams to one serving) the pudding mix to make a single serving. I'm sure basically that's all these little pouches are.

Hehe. Definitely a sometimes food. And definitely tasty!

I bought a box of the sugar-free vanilla ones for $.75 to dip apples in. Sure, the mix in the box is cheaper; but the conveniece of these is quite nice, they're cheaper than the pre-made cups, and I don't have to worry about them expiring.

I was unimpressed with these compared to homemade (cook, not instant)and the cups.

I like the sugar free chocolate singles - they taste better, and they have fewer calories!

I think these would be better than the pre-made kind, because I could use any kind of milk I wanted (whole if I wanted it super-rich, skim if I was calorie-conscious, etc).
