This week it is all about Ice cream, after all July is National Ice cream Month. Check out all our Reviews of Ice cream of the low fat variety of course. Try a flavor you haven't tried before.

Weight Watchers Cream Cheese SpreadOne of my favorite sandwiches to make is one with cream cheese and jelly. Cream cheese is tricky, though - it can be way too easy to add more than the 2 tablespoon serving size, sending calories and fat through the roof. That's why I was so excited to find the new Weight Watchers Reduced Fat Cream Cheese Spread, with 8 individual 1 ounce cups - built in portion control. That they were $2.99 (about the cost of a tub of cream cheese, with 8 servings) was an added bonus.

Eager to try one of the tubs, I got to work making my standard cream cheese and jelly sandwich. The proportioned cups were perfect - just enough cream cheese to be satisfying, with no danger of overindulging. The taste was also stellar, although not as rich as full-fat cream cheese, but not as bland as some of the fat-free brands I've had before, and the consistency was nice and thick.

Looking at the nutritional information for Weight Watchers Cream Cheese Spread, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only are each of these 1 ounce tubs only 60 calories, but they also provide a whole 3 grams of fiber (12% of the recommended daily amount) and 2 grams of protein. There are 5 grams of fat (9% of daily recommendations), 3.5 grams of that being saturated fat (18% of daily recommendations), but given that one serving of regular cream cheese has 10 grams of total fat and30% of the RDA for saturated fat, I figured those stats weren't too bad. There is also 5% of the RDA for cholesterol (15 mg) and 3% of the RDA for sodium (80 mg).

Although I prefer the taste of Philadelphia Whipped Cream Cheese (which is also 60 calories per 1 ounce serving), I will definitely be buying these again for the automatic portion control and portability!

I am glad you brought up the Philly whipped for those that like to avoid the stigma of Weight Watchers products.

These would be especially nice for travel. work lunches, and camping; though I tend to buy Neufchatel in blocks most of the time - it's still cheaper.
