V8 SouthWestern Corn Soup
Campbells says that for their V8 SouthWestern Corn Soup, they "take the mild sweetness of yellow corn and balance it with roasted peppers for a friendly little kick in the taste buds. No artificial flavors. No preservatives. Just the delicious, vibrant taste of a full serving of vegetables."
I don't think I could adequately describe how GOOD this soup is. V8 SouthWestern Corn Soup is full bodied, creamy, with a little spicy kick at the end of a mouthful. I was very skeptical about drinking "corn" soup - I don't like creamed corn - but this blew all doubts out of the water. I must confess though that I added a pinch of salt. This filled me up for lunch - I had the entire box which is 2 servings, and a few crackers. Forget all those Progresso & Campbell's condensed soups. After having this you will literally throw them out.
Each 18.3 ounce box of V8 SouthWestern Corn Soup has 2 servings. Each serving (1 cup) provides 150 calories, 3 grams of total fat including 0.5 grams of saturated fat (5% and 3% of the RDA), 26% of the daily value for sodium (620 mg), 3 grams of protein and 26 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 7 grams of sugars and 2 grams of fiber (9% of the RDA).
I'm really disappointed about the amount of sodium and I wish they would work on reducing this. The ingredients were totally in evidence - lots of corn, and a few roasted red peppers. First V8 wowed me by expanding their line to include V8V- Fusion and now they are wowing me again with this soup. V8 soups retail for about $2.99 and it's totally worth every penny.

OK, silly question. You said you were disappointed in the amount of sodium, I'm guessing you think it's too high, but yet you added a "pinch" of salt. Was it an automatic, reach for the shaker thing or did it really need salt? I've had it and I just added a little pepper.
I have to check these out, I love some of Campbell's other boxed soups. Pacific has some good ones too, perhaps with less sodium.
I added a tiny bit of salt and garlic to it too, and some crushed red pepper - but honestly this soup was really really REALLY great! I always doctor canned soup but this one needed very little
Sounds yummy, and corn is so good for you! (Boo to all those anti-corn low-carbers). Has anyone tried the broccoli version? I've been eying it.
I love this stuff. The broccoli one is really amazing! I like to eat with a toasted cheese sandwhich
Had this for lunch, it was really good. I am generally concerned about the sodium levels in these soups, but this one isn't particularly high, in my experience, at least among the other boxed and canned soups I rely on.
But really nice, and on sale for $2.00 at the moment.
Does anyone know if V8 soup are gluten free?
i would like to know the same thing :/ it says "modified food starch" but that could mean anything... i guess i'll have to call.
