Great Bite Orange Mints

Great Bite MintsThe other day I was bargain hunting in Jack's World (an incredible discount store with a few different locations...I was in the Herald Square store). Everything on the first floor of Jack's is 99 cents, and they have some great stuff - from food to household items. The store is a find in itself ... but enough about that. While standing in line, my eyes wandered over to the candy/gum shelf. I noticed Great Bite Mints. The cute little "shark bite" on the label and the fact that it was $1.00 for a 3 pack ... and the fact that it was in the "impulse buy" section - well, I just couldn't resist.

They come in a few different flavors, including spearmint, peppermint, and orange, which was the one I picked up. The orange flavor is sweet and fruity, not minty. In fact, they taste exactly like the Tic-Tacs they resemble so closely in packaging, size, and shape, and for less than half the price.

It says there are approximately 28 servings per container ... I always wondered why they would say "approximately" and then use such a specific number ... am I the only one? Each mint is actually a serving (they have got to be kissing with that), and the nutrition information resembles the report card of a child who has never once shown up to school: zeros all down the line. No calories, carbs, protein, fat, sodium, vitamins, minerals, or anything else. (Regular Tic-Tacs have 2 calories each).

The ingredient list is what you would expect from a sugar-free, no-calorie mint (lots of fake sugar-type stuff )acesulfame K), some artificial flavoring, gum arabic, etc). If that bother you, steer clear. Otherwise, they aren't bad.

I may or may not buy these again, but if I don't it won't be because they are bad, just because I don't regularly eat candy. If I did, however, I would be thrilled that I found these, as they are a much cheaper alternative to Tic-Tacs, and of no lesser quality.

Has anyone else tried these magig mints? I have now been "living of them" from some weeks but i really cant believe that they do not have any kcal - i seem to get "shugar-twitches" from them if i eat too many....(And furthermore i feel i have gaines weight) Might be pure imagination but would like to hear other opinions:)
