Campbell's Select Harvest Light Italian Style Vegetable Soup

Campbells Select Harvest Light Italian Style Vegetable SoupBetween working two different jobs, triathlon training, planning a wedding, and trying to keep my life afloat, my days are pretty hectic sometimes. When I fall through the front door at night, usually I want a nice, quick, healthy dinner that I can feel good about and will also fill me up without any fuss. A girl can only eat so many frozen dinners, so I decided to explore soups. I was drawn to Campbell's Select Harvest Light due to the amazing nutritionals. For a volume eater like me, this soup really seemed to fit the bill.

Well, it was worth a shot. Although Campbell's packed in plenty of veggies, the soup seemed to be lacking somehow. The broth was somewhat watery, and as a whole, there was not a lot of flavor in the soup. I tried to jazz it up by adding some wilted spinach, but to no avail. Unfortunately, some things just do not transition well when made "light".

Each 1 cup serving of Campbells Select Harvest Light Italian Style Vegetable Soup (the whole can has two servings) contains 50 calories and no fat. Each serving has 480 mg of sodium (20% of the daily value), 3 grams of protein, and 13 grams of carbohydrates which includes 4 grams of fiber (16% of the RDA) and 3 grams of sugars. Also worth noting, each cup contains 30% of the RDA for Vitamin A.

I purchased this soup on sale at my local grocery store for $1.25, or 4 for $5.00. (Regular price on the shelf was $2.29). I do not regret the purchase, as it was such a good deal, but I think the extra 50 calories per serving in most of the Select Harvest non-light soups is probably a worthy investment.

I agree - it lacked in flavor and something else...I would not buy it again.

I agree with you two. Especially for active people (as you sound), we really need more than 100 cal. and better taste is the way to go.
