Stonyfield Farm YoKids Organic Strawberry Vanilla & Raspberry Yogurts

Stonyfield Farms YoKids Organic Strawberry Vanilla and Raspberry YogurtAs much as I adore Yoplait Light Yogurt, I also enjoy branching out and trying various organic or low-fat brands which provide a different mouth feel and unique flavor. So, when I saw Stonyfield Farm YoKids Organic Yogurt in Strawberry Vanilla and Raspberry, on sale for $2.19, my instincts to try something new kicked in - even though I am no longer considered "a kid."

Strawberry & Vanilla sounds like a fantastic flavor combo, and not terribly difficult to master in a yogurt blend. But it seems like Stonyfield Farms had some issues and I think they may need to reformulate this particular flavor. It is reminiscent of a faintly flavored plain yogurt. I honestly have no clue how they shove 13 grams of sugar into such a tiny cup and have it taste like ... nothing. The texture is great, but that will not keep me coming back for more.

What's strange is that they are marketing this yogurt for kids. Most kids have a bit of a sweet tooth, and I just cannot see them flocking to this bland yogurt. But I must say, while the Strawberry & Vanilla needs much re-working, the Raspberry flavor, which makes up half of the 6-pack, is many times better. It offers a smooth and subtle raspberry flavor with perfect sweetness. How they could botch one flavor, yet make the other one so good is beyond me!

The nutrition information for Stonyfield Farm YoKids Organic Yogurts is nothing short of what you would expect. Each 4 ounce yogurt cup is 80 calories, 1 gram of total fat and 0.5 grams of saturated fat (2% & 3% of the RDA respectively), no fiber, 13 grams of sugar, 5 grams of protein and 20-25% of the RDA for Calcium and Vitamin D.

Stonyfield says their YoKids Yogurt has no fillers or gelatin; no phony colors and no artificial anything. I love the nutrition facts, and wouldn't mind buying Organic when I can afford it, but buying this would have been a waste of my money simply because only half of the pack appeals to my taste buds. If you have purchased this yogurt before and loved the Strawberry Vanilla flavor, let us know.

Have to say I love stonyfield farms yogurt. I haven't tried to kid version, but the others are great. Besides, they don't have HFCS which yoplait yogurts due, which is a nice bonus.

I agree with you Jill. I have liked all of their other yogurts too, which is why I was so surprised with this one! Maybe I just got a bad batch?!

I like their plain yogurt, but I feel like Stonyfield is really overrated - I've found their yogurts to be amazingly tart/sour for being loaded with sugar.
