Orville Redenbacher Natural Wild Berry Mini Popcorn Cake

Roberts American Gourmet Pirate BootyOrville Redenbacher Caramel Mini Smart Cakes received a rave review, so I knew I had to try it. I opted for Orville's All Natural Wild Berry 100 Calorie Mini Popcorn Cakes and hoped it would hold up just a well. First and foremost, the box is huge and the 6 puffed up bags inside are neck in neck. Each self serve bag contains 14 little purple cakes and absolutely no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. The first ingredient is popcorn, followed by sugar, salt, elderberry juice concentrate and a few other minor ingredients.

The taste, however, is one of the largest cherries on top of any sundae you have ever had. It resembles the combination of a caramel corn sensation and enticing berry sweetness. The crispy snap that the popcorn cakes provide combine with the pleasantly sweet flavor to take your mouth on a wild ride. I think this may be the biggest 100 calorie pack I have ever had (well, except for maybe Orville's never-ending 100 calorie packs of popcorn).

The nutrition information is just right for a satisfyingly sweet snack that still leaves room for other splurges during your day. Each 0.88 ounce bag has 100 calories, no fat or cholesterol, 105 mg of sodium (4% of the RDA), 1 gram of fiber (4% of the RDA), 10 grams of sugar and 2 grams of protein.

Unfortunately, my purchase of Orville Redenbacher's All Natural Wild Berry 100 Calorie Mini Popcorn Cakes was an impulse buy and I failed to make use of the $1 off coupon available at the website. Oh well, there will be a next time! Also, if sweet is not your thing, check out the Buttery Garlic and Garden Herb flavors.
