Frigo Cheese Heads Light Swirls String Cheese

Frigo Cheese Heads Light Swirls String CheeseMy love of cheese came from living in Wisconsin for a few years. It's known as the dairy state and we naturally always had really good cheese. I can't get enough of the stuff, so when I came across Frigo Cheese Heads Light Swirls String Cheese in Wal-Mart for about $5.00, I naturally reached for it to check it out. When I saw that each stick was only 60 calories, it immediately went into my grocery cart.

As soon as I got to my car, I tore open the bag and bit into one of the sticks. Mmm ... I could not believe it! Even if they had 50% less fat and 25% less calories, it still tasted just like real cheese. The Swirlz variety have mozzarella and cheddar and I could even individually taste each one. I think the only difference between Frigo "Light" and regular string cheeses is that these sticks were a little dryer and easier to peel, so in a way, they are actually better! There wasn't even a gross aftertaste or any weird textures involved. The entire experience was amazing. I actually had to have 2 (while still in the car), since these sticks were just way too good. and the fact that they are individually wrapped makes them easier to carry around for a midday snack i heart this.

As I mentioned previously, each 1 ounce stick of Frigo Cheese Heads Light Swirls String Cheese provides 60 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat (4% of the recommended daily amount), 1.5 grams of saturated fat (8% of the RDA), 9% of the RDA for sodium (230 mg), no carbohydrates, 8 grams of protein and 20% of the RDA for calcium.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and will be buying it again S my budget allows, because the price is certainly higher than some other brands (but the taste is stellar). Another good choice is Sargento Light String Cheese.

I have never bought these b/c I am not a fan of cheddar cheese, but I eat the Frigo Light String Cheese on a regular basis. I love them and bring two to work each day to go with my mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. They are also a good source of calcium b/c each one provides 20% of your daily needs.

I bought both the light swirls and cheddar sticks because I found a coupon in the newspaper and I love cheese. It was also a good way to bring a healthy snack to work.
However I was seriously disappointed when I tasted the cheese. I found it extremely dry and tasting bad.
I did not tell my daughter my opinion and she came to the same conclusion.
I threw the remaining cheese away. I will NEVER buy it again.

Perhaps I got a bad batch, but these taste pretty bad... I've always liked their regular string cheese so I thought I would like the light version as well, but it really doesn't compare. The "cheddar" half of these strings has a very odd, crumbly texture and a strange taste as well. Ick. Very dry as well.
