This week it is all about Ice cream, after all
July is National Ice cream Month. Check out all our
Reviews of Ice cream of the low fat variety of course.
Try a flavor you haven't tried before.
I settled on Tribe Hummus, which is available in several different flavors. My first attempt was with the 40 spices because it sounded exotic and yummy! When I finally tasted it, I was very impressed! The spread held up well to dipping (no drips), as well as spreading on pita rounds and bread. It lent a nice kick to my veggies, and also added staying power due to the protein and fat content. Since trying the 40 spices flavor, I have branched out to Scallion as well as Roasted Red Pepper. Both are excellent! I purchased Tribe 40 Spices Hummus at my local grocer for $2.99 for an 8 ounce container (8 servings). Each 2 tablespoon serving provides 50 calories, 3.5 grams of total fat (5% of the recommended daily amount), no saturated fat, 6% of the RDA for sodium (140 mg), 3 grams of carbohydrates which includes 1 gram of fiber and no sugars, and 1 gram of protein. One of the reasons I wad drawn to this brand was the short list of ingredients: chickpeas, lemon juice, water, tahini, canola oil, spices, sea salt, citric acid, sodium citrate and natural flavor. I will definitely be making this a daily lunchtime staple. Taste:

Wolf Goettin said: Tahini is ground sesame seeds. I wouldn't consider an 8 ounce container for $3 a very good buy - it's far more expensive than Sabra or Cedar's.

I love that it doesn't have a bunch of added ingredients. I've been a Sabra hummus fan for awhile now, but I'll have to try this one!
