Stauffers All Natural Animal Crackers
I was looking at my options in the snack aisle and came across an unfamiliar box of Stauffers Animal Crackers. I went to the company website and found that I had these before, just in a different packaging. When I ate them, though, I thought they were a new product and found myself amazed at how tasty they were.
The animal crackers don't look like anything special. They appear beige and shaped like animals, but their mild sweetness and crunch are quite pleasant. In fact, the box itself describes them as "fun, wholesome, and delicious!" The animal crackers are also all natural, which can be interpreted to be a plus.
The box advertises that 14 Stauffers All Natural Animal Crackers are only 100 calories although that is technically less than the stated serving size. One serving size is 17 crackers (30 grams), which provides 120 calories, 2 grams of total fat, none of which are saturated or trans, no cholesterol, 100 mg of sodium (4% daily value), 24 grams of total carbohydrates which includes less than 1 gram of dietary fiber and 7 grams of sugars. There are also 2 grams of protein.
The ingredient list is not very long as animal crackers are a fairly simple snack (no high fructose corn syrup). The list also mentions natural flavors and spices and specifically mentions nutmeg and mace. I paid $1.88 for a 10oz box at Target, but the original price was $1.99 - and they are available online at Stauffers website. The kiddie crowd may have more appreciation for the 13 different animal shapes of the crackers than I do, but I like how there were donkey and elephant shapes - fitting for this presidential election year.
As a snack, I would definitely buy these again. They have similar nutrition facts to other snacks out there, but these are "all natural" and not excessively sweet or salty.

So THAT'S what I'm eating. LOL (or at least similar) I bought animal crackers out of bulk at Whole Foods, and on the bin the nutritions stats say 15 crackers are 120 calories and 2.5 grams of fat. I used to always eat Barnum's animal crackers, but since this discovery I switched over. More crackers for less calories and fat. YAY!
I'd need some portion control with these puppies -- they sound tasty!
OMG! I love this stuff! so addicting! so hard to keep it in the serving size! lol! a little dry but whatever they are still addicting!! in fact, I need to buy more today!
